Lee Pro auto disk question.

Maybe my brain isn't functioning properly, but I need a little help from my fellow LIF reloaders. I have a Lee Pro auto disk powder measure. I set the 4 turret press up and want to start reloading some 9mm ammo. I'm trying to calculate which disks to use so it drops the right charge.

I followed what the Lee manual says and I'm getting a Volume CC of .40744 (the math to follow)

It says to find the closest volume in CC number on the chart and then use the top and bottom disk in that row. I was considering using 4.4 grains of HP38 with a 9mm 115 grain berrys round nose bullet.

I'm not sure of the exact load I am going to use but I just want to set it up and make sure it drops the right charges. For Hodgon HP38. The VMD is .0926

4.4 grains x .0926VMD = .40744 volume cc

The Lee chart shows the smallest volume CC as .60 and it goes up from there. Am I missing something?

W231 and HP38

Auto Disk .40 = 4.3 gr
Auto Disk .43 = 4.6 gr
Auto Disk .46 = 4.9 gr

Always weigh your loads, I weigh every 10 rounds I load after initial setup and a few test drops.

Do you have the trickle adapter for it, I think thats what its called.

Its the Lee adjustable charge bar.

Lee Adjustable Charge Bar is used in place of the Charge Disk on the Auto Disk and Pro Auto Disk Powder Measures. Adjustable between .28 cc and 1.6 cc
I have one I have not used if you ever need it. I do not load that small loads, so I have been good.

The powder measure comes with awful instructions!!

I'm trying to set the lever bar up to drop the charges. It has the spring one already in but the bar is really short how do you operate this thing. Then it comes with another longer bar and chain but it says its for their progressive presses. What gives?

I feel so stupid asking these questions but the instructions are really bad for setup!

Edit: DUHHH I think I figured it out!

If you want to, stop by my house anytime and look at my setup.

Always better safe than sorry when reloading.i find the disks can vary slight from what they list, but one up or down can get it right. Just make sure you test the drop a few times starting and then a few times throughout each loading session to make sure it's on point.

The adjustable charge bar won't make it any better. Volumetric measurement of powder has its deficiencies, which is why you won't use it on match ammo.
One thing that helps with the powder drops is vibration. I slap the handle a few times on the up stroke, and a few on the down stroke. This helps the powder settle better in the hopper and the cavities. Keeping the hopper 3/4 full also helps. If you want you can put a large fender washer or two on top of the powder that will help it go into the cavities better.

Well, I guess it's an $8 mistake... at least it will help a bit when I change powders...
As to tap/tap.... it would work well on a stand-alone unit, but on the auto measure loader, it doesn't work.

But the washer will... I made a copy of the rcbs baffle and have that in the bottom of the tube... it keeps the weight consistent and I think it works fine reguardless of the level.

Using Win 231 or HP 38 The .40 disc setting is going to be too light for 9mm and Berry's round nose plated bullets.
My guess is you're yielding about 4.2-4.4 grains on each round with that combination.

You're going to want to switch up to the .43 disc and get closer to 4.7-4.9 grains of powder.
