I am new to this forum. My wife and I are considering moving to Suffolk County and since I have collected a lot of handguns and long guns I was concerned about the rules and laws of the county. I have other avenues to look as I work for DHS but wanted to hear from residents that live in the area and see what idiosyncrasies that you have encountered. I currently maintain a CCW but I doubt reciprocity works as NY does not always honor other CCW licenses. Any feedback would be welcomed.

If you have a choice stay out of NY. Try a looking for a free state. Andy Cuomo and friends do not like gun owners. Do some research on how and what you have to go thru to get your pistol licence and what you have to do to register them.

If you are moving from a free state like Texas, DO NOT bring in any handguns at all!

At least not until you get a permit, then have them transferred dealer to dealer to put on your license.

I wanted to find out about the ins and outs of firearms and firearms ownership. And thanks to these types of forum sites one can go straight to the horses mouth for the best and truthful opinions about anything and everything. Reading reviews and sales garb has nothing on good honesty........and human nature guarantees that eh......

I'm Bill from Bay Shore. I'm very much a newbie having last held a rifle as a teenager in high school. Now that a number of decades have passed I am looking forward to shooting again. More than likely I hope to buy a Henry lever action. Since I'm not a hunter their 22 models will do just fine. I just need a permit and am unsure of what is required. Pulled down some forms but they all seem to related to handguns. So I'm a little confused about the process. It could be an age thing! I would be appreciate it if anyone out there who could put me on the correct path.

Great to be here.

Was basically looking for answers about an old antique WWI rifle. Ended up here. I'm retired law enforcement, pro 2nd amendment, anti socialist/communist government which is the direction we appear to be headed.
