Excuse me if there’s another thread on this but I’m not on this forum often.

I get we all need to sit tight and see what happens with the licensing laws / carry classification but in the meantime this class thing is never going to go away.

I find it completely unacceptable that of the two places I found offering this 18 hr class on LI, they are charging $800 and what it has to be retaken every three years?

I don’t care what kind of instructor you are they should be doing everything to facilitate this process not impeded.

why are the classes in western New York and upstate ranging from $110-$340?

that being said does anybody know where else we could take the class?

please excuse the rant my PTSD is very agitated because of this.

thx
Steve

I would image with you being a veteran you might be able to be exempt from taking the training - OR - submit proof of already completing similar approved training to get credit towards it

Not sure what branch you were in but se attached.

Might need a letter from your superior stating that you've taken training before.

I don’t mind taking the training refresher training is never a bad thing but I’m not paying $800 for it and the guy at dark storm told me unless the training was within five years your up the creek.

I was in the army, Iraq combat veteran with a CAB issued and carried a 9 mm as an every day weapon.

Why is anyone here signing up for anything, and paying gobs of money to get something that has not been approved by the STATE. I am not paying hundreds of $$$ to find out the course will NOT get you your carry endorsement. You should not have to take the course, let alone pay a Ludacris amount to get instructed. I'll chill, and wait to see what is in store for us peasants.

I agree.

First, I don't think the training aspect is going to hold up as Constitutional given text, history and tradition. While a training requirement has never been challenged (that I'm aware of) this is post the standard of review established by the Bruen decision.

Second, on what basis was this standard established?

Third, why are individuals in some counties exempted from training? This is a state carry license. Why would where you got the license have anything to do with whether or not you should be required to have this training. Without a very good reason it's arbitrary and capricious.

And last, until the sensitive places issue is corrected you have a concealed carry license to carry when and where? How practical is it to have this license given the current sensitive place restrictions?

And finally, finally, why bow to the tyrant in Albany?

Not only may not get you a carry endorsement but in what time frame? And carry where ... in your back yard? Do you think the SCPD is going to be banging out carry license's if they have to check background info, re-interview and check references AGAIN. That same squad of 15 cops who are also handling current and new applications? It could be years! Personally I'm going to sit tight with my "sportsman" and hope the courts prevail in the next decade....:(

When this case first made it to the SCOTUS, I said to myself, “they will make us simply reapply, as it will be stated our original application is invalid for Full Carry”, but I assumed they would not attempt to reclassify our current licenses as premise, which it looks like will occur. If they can have county level administrative restrictions on a STATE license, then it will never be an even playing field. It’s always a game of cat and mouse in NY, with the cat being a 700lb Siberian Tiger, and the mouse a tiny, little cute albino lab mouse with pink eyes. I said to myself, there is no way in hell NY (meaning Westchester and south) will ever be a Carry State, whether Democrat or Republican leadership. The state is governed by NYC, which is the root of corrupt Democrat leadership (“Gangs of NY” pretty much was spot on with its portrayal) even with Republican leadership, Rudy Giuliani, who was anti 2A, and the same for Pataki. I believe there no chance in hell of any favorable gun rights For the law abiding. They don’t care about SCOTUS rulings and federal law, they break the law by allowing Sanctuary City status, so how would “UnSanctuary City” status for 2A rights be any different ? Fuck this place, my plan is to just get outta here, my bro just bought a place in Tennessee, I want to go a bit North East into New Hampshire. It’s always one step ahead, then kicked 10 steps backward with us, every loss of rights takes one night, then to regain .001% of what was taken away takes years.

You take your certificate to Yapank and five dollar check for ammendment. They will call you in about 8 weeks for 10 min interview and they change license to full carry.
Yaphank is 8 weeks. What's up with that??I just talked to one of my friends. They just finished the concealed carry course and got their concealed carry permit from the Sherriff's Office in Riverhead right away.

Educate me on this.....I go to Yaphank and then wait 8 weeks or I can go to Riverhead and get it right away? What's with that?
Eastern Suffolk residents with pistol licenses from the Sheriff walk in with their training certificate and get their "Carry" right on the spot. The license will change from "Sportsman" to "Concealed/Rifle...Type: Carry."

And Komorowski says he can't do that because of computer software. He also can't/won't ask the Sherriff for help. I've added FUMK to my bitch list.
I need some positive things to start happening because I'm losing all my positive steam.

The positives things are a bunch of lawsuits going at a good clip that are likely to have favorable outcomes. More people have full carry licenses in Suffolk than every before. that's also a plus.
