Police inspect some of the 1,200 guns found in the condo of a man who was decomposing in a car down the street for about two weeks.
Los Angeles police found more than 1,200 guns and nearly two tons of ammunition inside the home of a man found decomposing in a car parked down the street in the Pacific Palisades neighborhood Friday.

"Our truck couldn't carry it all," Los Angeles Police Department Cmdr. Andrew Smith told the Los Angeles Times about the one-man war chest.

The man, who hasn't been identified, had been decomposing in his car in the 1700 block of Palisades Drive for about two weeks before someone called police Friday afternoon, an LAPD source told the Daily News.

The source said it took police the entire weekend to empty the man's staggering stash from his condo, and called it "one of the biggest (arsenals) I've seen."

Police said they do not suspect foul play and are not investigating the death as a homicide, but have not determined how the man died. They are also unsure why he had so many guns.

"We don't know what he was thinking," the source said.

There are no indications thus far the man was plotting an attack or smuggling weapons, police said.

The arsenal included handguns, rifles and shotguns, the Palisades Newsreported. Many had never been fired and some were still wrapped in boxes with price tags, police said. All of the weapons and ammo are now being examined by the LAPD to determine their origins and any criminal connections.

"We have a lot of work to do," Smith told the Times.
That reminds me of when they opened Beethoven's tomb. With their first glimpse into the previously unopened mausoleum they spied an un believable sight of Beethoven propped up on a piano throne. Just then he turned his head and yelled

"Close the door, I'm decomposing!"

If they aren't investigating his death how can they take his property for no reason whatsoever? Just because he has a collection doesn't mean he was into bad things. Why investigate this?
Because it's a story with a dead guy, guns and ammo. The "Journalism" school graduates can write any kind of crap they want. Soon they will find that in 1995 he made a phone call to Mexico and they will spin that into gun smuggling.

And the story is about his gun "arsenal" and not that it took two weeks before anyone reported a decomposing body in a car to the police. One reporter in another story even called it a "slew" of guns and ammo. Nice neighborhood.

"The arsenal included handguns, rifles and shotguns, the Palisades News reported. Many had never been fired and some were still wrapped in boxes with price tags, police said."

Obviously pre-staged for illegal sale and not to preserve the re-sale value of his investment. Could also be that they were stolen from LGSs....but, you'd think someone would have noticed that 1200 guns and 2 tons of ammo were missing before now.

Now his next of kin will have to sue LA County to get the stuff after the estate is settled?
If they're ever told what he actually owned.

A patriot was found dead after waiting nearly two weeks for LAPD to add his 1201st pistol to his license and reprint the 400 duplicate cards he was forced to carry. Further testing revealed the man died of comiplications from multiple hernias .
