At least they're showing some concern for the guy.
Irvington is a rough hood, and I'm sure in this economy, it isn't getting any better anytime soon..

Once the spotlight is off, they'll probably suspend him for being unsafe...

...or disrupt his pay because their disability carrier claims the injury wasn't serious...

...or blame him for instigating the whole thing by ignoring the kid and not trying to sell him FiOS...

...and then they'll still send techs out there alone, claiming its not dangerous enough to deem it a "two man area"

If they're offering a reward, its only to find the kid so they can send all the bills to his parents...
That's about the size of it, eh?
My friend had a West Indian restaurant there. I used to go to strip clubs in Irvington. On the plus side, if you wanted hookers and blow.......

Oh how sad and true this is, as a former Verizon employee who had to transfer to WV to keep my employment I can fully support these statements. The reward they are offering is for publicity and they most certainly try and find a way to blame the tech. The days of two man areas or third party chaperones are long gone. One of the techs I used to work with in Port Jefferson once got held up by gunpoint in an elevator in Brooklyn and the company tried to say he shouldn't have been there alone but refused to send out two techs to that work location. My thoughts and prayers are with him and his family
