What does this do for me living on Long Island can you buy a pistol in New York with it. Do you need a New York one first.

No cant buy or even touch a handgun in NY without NYS permit, but it gives you ccw permit for 30+- other states through reciprocity,it's cheap to renew, and it can all be done non resident through the mail.
Not to mention the class is great, short and painless! Chris does a great job, I took the last class!

If I get the Utah ccw and HR822 is passed what would that mean to an out of state ccw holder and would that let me buy a pistol on Long Island

As a resident of any state, you are bound by the laws of the state you reside in. An out of state license would not allow you to purchase, possess, or touch a handgun in NYS without a NYS license.

No, pretty sure it's federal law that you can only purchase handguns in a state that you are atleast a part time resident and you need to be able to prove it.

Utah is definitely a valuable permit. The advantage of the Utah class allows you to apply for a Florida CCW. The renewal is worth it. It gives you Minnesota a plus .

I am still new to all this and right now I don't have any kind of hand gun permit. After the 1st of the year I am planing to apply in Suffolk target permit, I dont know how that will go because Ive had an issue with my drivers license being suspended. No d.w.i or anything like that it was a long time ago for drag racing. Could this hurt my chances.

Which county are you in? Was there any criminal charges associated with the drag racing?

I am in Suffolk, the drag racing was in Queens in 1990. I got unreg uninsu and a couple more while the car was on the back of a tow truck, dont ask its a long story. Nothing criminal.

Your good to go! One question... Why the wait till first of the year? The wait is long and only gets shorter after you apply. Get in filed ASAP!!!
