Would like to know if a future Utah class can also include the nra basic course in order to also apply for CT permit.

Thanks.

When we took the last class, we were told that the first half WAS the NRA basic pistol class - but no certificates were given for that...

These new classes will be given monthly and will be cheaper per member than all the others available.  We will be supporting LIF by taking these classes.

No license= no live fire= no NRA basic pistol. NRA Basic Pistol requires live fire.

NRA Basic Pistol is an 8 hour course. You can combine some of this with Utah, but not the Utah legal requirements part since that is clearly not part of NRA BP. The time may vary slighly from 8 hours since the course is objective-oriented (straight from my official BP course instructor's manual) but you can't call four hours a BP course unless you want to lose your NRA credantial.

If you take the NRA Basic Pistol course, you MUST be given the student pack, the test and certificate and Basic Pracical rocker come inside the student packet.

As mentioned above, part of the Utah course looks similar to the NRA's basic pistol course. However, Utah and the NRA both require that their entire curriculum be taught to receive certification. In other words, while some of the Utah class may cover parts of the NRA basic pistol course, it does not meet the requirements of the NRA course for certification. Additionally, Utah frowns on instructors that deviate from the standards they have devised.

That said, the classes offered through LIF will not intermingle the curriculum. Separate classes will be offered for Utah and NRA basic pistol. Stay tuned for further details.

Shooting is shooting, I have not taken the utah license, (but I want to)- but the NRA basic pistol does require range time somewhere.

Utah is a good start for a person who want's to obtain a pistol permit in New York.Their is a class being offered by Rochester Defense in Chemung County in Horseheads on 08/21/10 .Another class is being offered on 08/07/10 in Bristol PA at Ready Aim Fire. This class offers everything photo notory fingerprints. The Upstate Utah class is $90 while the paperwork is $50 for Florida and the Utah is $150 for the PA class.
