Has Florida granted reciprocity ??

Or, do they just recognize the BCI course to apply for a Fla license ??

Just recognize the training. It only applies to Non residents.Florida residents are still required to have live-fire.Both Florida and Utah DO NOT require a pistol permit from your home state.

So this means I just have to include a Copy of my certificate that I completed the Utah class with my application.

If you take the current Utah class a copy is all you need.My friend took the class over the weekend he paid $135 for photo's fingerprinting and notory for both Utah & Florida. The class was somewhere upstate. He said it was worth the trip because everything is done in class.

Florida also accepts a NYS hunting license which requires no official live fire.

Just to clarify- I THINK you have to send them a copy of your DEC Hunter Safety Certificate, not your hunting license.

Utah BCI often DOES have live fire, but Utah leaves that to the discretion of the individual instructors, who are supposed to report their course syllabus to Utah BCI for approval. Mostly Utah just wants to know you read the Utah law and that your check clears your bank.

Apparently Captain Will thinks the Utah BCI is a joke.He should research the facts how Utah BCI works.

Pretty sure it works exactly as I srtated about the corurse outline approvals. And I have the card. How about you??

Nowhere did I say it's a "joke", but depending on the instructor you get, whether there is a live fire requirement or not, whether there is equivalent handgun training compared to say, NRA Basic Pistol or not, what you get may not be as stringent as some other licenses.

The fact that Utah does not explicitly stipulate that you have EVER EVEN FIRED A GUN and leaves the treining materials and course development pretty much up to the individual BCI training counselors (other than the Utah Law section) means that if you get a good, well structured course, it's as much the product of your individual trainer than Utah's BCI.

Of course, some states have no requirements at all other than "send us your money" , and others don't require a permit for CCW at all.
