Under the mattress is NOT a holster

I get weary reading things like this.

A 5-year-old girl was in good condition early Sunday after she was shot in her ankle Saturday afternoon while jumping on a bed when a gun hidden under the mattress accidentally went off.

The gun was hidden between two mattresses.

In the case, Jarquise Upton, of the 6400 block of South Artesian, was charged with one felony count of unlawful use of a weapon by felon. Upton also was charged with two misdemeanors: possession of ammunition and theft of lost or mislaid property, police said

Another innocent kid shot by an ILLEGALLY possessed firearm.  I'm sure the media will use it as fodder for the anti's.
Accidents only happen when you have a round in the pipe. Not that this guy should have had it in the first place, but for any of us law abiding gun folk....It only takes a second to chamber a round (no diff in my eyes than if you need to pump your shotgun) and this method makes an "accident" nearly impossible.  I know, I know there are a lot of advocates of chambered-ready guns, but the negatives really outweigh the advantages here.

But if only there were more laws against firearm ownership this tragedy wouldn't have been prevented!
