Gov't Rep, "Ok folks, everything is under control here. You can go home now we have everything under control. What? No we do not have an issue with border security, were the government by golly!"
Sad,
May he rest in peace.

This should be the headline in the mainstream media!
It is sickening that instead of adressing the problem with our broken system (i.e. free healthcare & welafare for illegals, illegal haven cities, taxpayer benefits for non taxpaying illegals) that we simply wage an unwinnable war at the border. It's both a blessing and a curse that maggot politicians will never run out of brave Americans who will die for whats left of thier freedom while they sit back and make the problem worse.

At least Arizona politicians tried to do the right thing, unfortunately, the right thing is "unconstitutional"...

How the #@%$ is what Arizona tried to do unconstitutional as compared to "santuary" cities for illegal immigrants? Lets see... One is a carbon copy of federal law... illegal. One is in direct violation of federal law, but since we dont enforce that law... legal.

The blood of this man is on the hands of Judge Susan Bolton and every other idiot judge, politician or voter that feeds this problem.

Fox News is now reporting it. They were about 20 mintues slow. ;)
The Feds are playing the game of "acceptable loses". As long as it's in the ones or twos, its acceptable, and can be swept under the rug. When the SHTF and the numbers reach into, God forbid, the tens or hundreds, then they will mobilize the National Guard, and start asking "hard questions" as to who is responsible. Never once looking into a mirror and seeing who really is responsible!
This kind of stuff drives me crazy.... We're putting these guys out there to do our dirty work (undermanned) and our own government is turning their back on the problem. Almost like the problem doesn't exist. I have a very good friend (ex roommate) who is on the border in San Diego.

I heard a crazy statistic recently (someone please confirm if you know) that since the war in Iraq started that there have been 3 times as many deaths from the border than that of the war on terror.

While what you are saying is certainly true, we are each still responsible for ourselves. I expect to go back down on the Border next month, to observe and report.

For those who can not give their time, or do not want to take the risks, you can still donate to the many Border watch groups who are doing good work on the Border, but could use your financial help.

What are the border watch groups? Do they coexist with Border Patrol and assist?

Minuteman Civil Defense

Texas Border Volunteers

Border Patrol Auxiliary

there are more. Google is your friend. ;)

As for the relationship between local, State and Federal LE and the Border volunteers, well Official Policy and what actually goes on the the Desert is not always the same. This does vary from Vol. group to group. As with people, they are not all the same.

Border Patrol agent killed near Nogales, AZ
Wednesday, December 15, 2010 | Borderland Beat Reporter Gerardo

A manhunt is under way for a suspect in last night's deadly shooting of a Border Patrol agent northwest of Nogales.

Authorities say they have arrested four suspects and are searching for another after Agent Brian A. Terry, 40, was shot and killed late Tuesday in the Peck Canyon area.

Ranchers along Ruby Road say they were advised by Border Patrol that the suspect may be headed in their direction as he tries to make his way toward the U.S.-Mexico border. The Nogales International witnessed a steady stream of Border Parol and Arizona Department of Public Safety vehicles patrolling the area between Interstate 19 and Pena Blanca Lake.

Sheriff Antonio Estrada said his office received a call for assistance shortly after 11 p.m. last night.

"Border Patrol called our dispatch, reporting shots fired and requesting emergency medical services to meet with them at Peck Canyon and Circulo Sombrero," Estrada said.

The shooting happened near Forest Service Road 4197, he said. A statement from U.S. Customs and Border Protection said Terry was shot and killed after encountering a group of suspects in the area.

"Our thoughts and prayers are with the Terry family for their tragic loss," CBP Commissioner Alan Bersin said in the statement. "Our commitment to Agent Terry and his family is that we will do everything possible to bring to justice those responsible for this despicable act."

Estrada said Terry had been working with BORSTAR, the Border Patrol's search, trauma and rescue team.

Since 1919, 111 Border Patrol agents have died on duty, according to The Officer Down Memorial Page Inc., which tracks law-enforcement deaths.

In July of last year, Border Patrol Agent Robert Wimer Rosas, 30, was shot and killed in southeast San Diego County, Calif. He was the last agent to be shot and killed in the line of duty, though two other agents have been killed in automobile accidents while on duty in two separate incidents in 2010. One of the agents was 32-year-old Michael Gallagher, who was killed in September of this year when a drunken driver struck his car near Casa Grande. The other was agent Mark Van Doren, 40, who was killed in Texas in May.

The Nogales Border Patrol Station in the Tucson sector is the largest Border Patrol station in the country, according to the agency's website.

Agents are responsible for patrolling 1,100 square miles of terrain as well as 32 miles of the international border.

Notice how nothing has been said about those arrested or a description of the one they are looking for? :-/
This problem at the mexican border has been escalating for many years.2007 Canadian News reported on a incdent on the border where unarmed national guard troops had to run for there lives when a highly armed mexican drug gang over ran there survalence post. These stories are being censored and keept out of main stream media. The drug gangs are employing x-south american military mercs some were even trained by uncle sam years ago. These gangs have repeatedly attacked the mexican army. They fear no one.Our lightly armed border guards are no match for these killer gangs. If your unhappy with the insane way our country is being run get politicaly involved.protest lobby, write letters.I was at a rally in september 100 people. The Tokyo News was there with a news crew.We talked with the Japanese about major(U.S).issues.no american news outfits covered the event. But all of tokyo knows how pissed off americans are.Let the libs try to censure international news about the border .Take care(woodstock)

agreed, they say its unconstitutional but, the constitution only applies to citizizens NOT illegal immigrants
I am still amazed that there are still no more details being released about the 4 suspects and the 1 suspect that they are looking for! If a cop gets shot in our city they plaster it all over the papers and any possible clues about the suspect to elicit the public's help in tracking them down. It's almost like they don't want the culprit to be captured in Arizona.
Here's a little more info.....but not much. :-/

Slain Border Patrol agent known as cop's cop
Former Marine described as patriotic
by Craig Harris - Dec. 16, 2010 12:00 AM
The Arizona Republic

Clean-cut. Well-built. A cop's cop.

If Central Casting were looking for a prototypical officer, they would have found it in Border Patrol Agent Brian Terry, a former colleague said.

Manhunt continues in Border Patrol agent's slaying

"He had a very impressive presence in his uniform," said Chief Thomas Karnes of the Lincoln Park, Mich., Police Department, where Terry previously served. "That had a lot to do with his Marine training. He always looked very sharp."

Terry, 40, a border agent for three years, was fatally shot late Tuesday patrolling near Peck Canyon in a remote area off Arizona 289. He was possibly killed by "bandits" who roam the border area, stealing from illegal immigrants, according to the Santa Cruz County Sheriff's Office.

The slaying occurred 2,000 miles from the suburbs of Detroit where Terry grew up and served as a police officer after a four-year stint in the Marines, where he was honorably discharged as a corporal.

Karnes said Terry obtained an associate's degree in criminal justice from Henry Ford Community College in Dearborn. He also was a police officer in Ecorse, another Detroit suburb.

Karnes said Terry was shot at while with the Lincoln Park department but was not hurt.

Terry grew up in Flat Rock, a small community about 20 miles south of Detroit. He graduated from Flat Rock High School in 1988.

"He was an easygoing guy who was very patriotic," said Eric Wymer, a 10-year veteran with the Detroit Police Department and longtime family friend. "He lost his life doing what he loved best, fighting for his country and catching bad guys."

He is survived by his parents, Josephine and Kent Terry; his brother, Kent and two sisters, Michelle Balogh and Kelly Willis.
