Excellent police work!
Serpico anybody? All I can say is, forget traffic violation; I'd hate to be an FHP Trooper and in need of assistance on the job. While "120 MPH" is excessive (because let's not forget it's a Crown Vic that can only go that fast down hill); wouldn't it have been perhaps more prudent to put a call into the cops CO or XO?mongo said:It would be interesting to see how this plays out. I would hate to be the next FHP Trooper stopped for a traffic violation. Sounds like the first shot in a war that nobody can win. Kinda like takeing a leak on the third rail...you just dont do it..jmho
From what I know about Florida, Miami police already hate the FHP and this traffic stop may be in retaliation.mongo said:It would be interesting to see how this plays out. How much courtesy- by which you mean leniency- are you willing to grant to police to ABUSE THEIR POWER IN ORDER TO BREAK THE LAW?LG said:what ever happened to professional courtesy??
I dont condone any kind of aggressive driving and certainly not drunk driving but it would take a vehicle travelling over 127 miles per hour to throw a person 700 feet .Parashooter said:Professional courtesy?... a professional wouldn't be abusing his position and doing 100+ mph...
I have a friend that was hit by an unmarked police car, driven by the head of the DWI squad...who must have been doing 'research' that evening. He was er spitfaced drunk - my friend was PUSHING his motorcycle 20+ feet off the road on the shoulder (he was always running out of gas) when he was struck and thrown ***over 700 - SEVEN HUNDRED FEET*** (this was in FL too)
...anyone still think the officer should have gotten any slack???
There was another incident that made one of the reality shows... another Florida off-duty black officer was stopped for "DWB"... "I'm on the job" even outranked the officer that stopped him... ended up getting belligerent and combative, and got arrested... Later the claim was he was stopped for "failure to signal" which I found highly amusing since the ONLY people that signal in Florida are tourists!!!
You're picking too many nits.... The trail of debris and tracks to where the mangled friend came to rest was well over 700 feet...(that 700+ is from the investigation/report). So, he traveled a hell of a long way after being struck - whether it was entirely airborne or he was dragged some of that distance is unclear... Since he never knew what happened until a few weeks after when he woke up in the hospital, and the driver was too wasted to even realize it.... I just avoided typing out these last five lines by saying 'thrown'...crashguy said:I dont condone any kind of aggressive driving and certainly not drunk driving but it would take a vehicle travelling over 127 miles per hour to throw a person 700 feet .
