Anyone have any experience comparing the Weatherby Vanguard S2 to the Remmington 700 SPS tactical, both in 308?

From what I can find online the main differences are:

More after market accessories for the 700.
The 700 is American made.
The Weatherby is about $150 cheaper.

Thanks.

The spec say the Weatherby has a 24" barrel vs a 20" for the 700.

OTOH, the overall weight of a Weatherby is about 1/4 pound +/- more than the 700.

Have used both, Like the 700 Tactical for long range etc etc. Weatherbys shoot just fine but are heavy for what they are

I was just shopping around for a bolt action 308 for the range but mainly future hunting- deer and similar size game, not long distance like Western type hunting. Looked at many but I chose Weatherby Vanguard, maybe a bit pricey for my first true bolt action but can't think of a finer system. The barrel is thicker next to similar systems which may account for the weight. Made in Japan, well, they do make great cars! And you can't beat their accuracy...
