What do you expect, from a sheriff in LA? He wasn't even sure if the semi-auto handgun was illegal in CA or if the so-called "extended" mag was illegal in CA. That says a lot, about what he knows about guns, about the CA law and his qualifications to be a sheriff.

Reportedly, Tran used a MAC-10 which is illegal to possess in CA. It is likely categorized as an "Assault Pistol" in the ultra liberal state of CA. The guy had a prior conviction for illegally possessing a firearm. It will be interesting to hear where & how he acquired a MAC-10.

Back in the 80’s and 90’s, The Tec-9 was used in many gang related shootings along with the MAC-10 and AK rifle. It brought us the AWB in 1994.
Expect more Anti Gun legislation!

they are not hard to get (except maybe CA), they are still made by masterpiece arms and sold as regular pistols
