SS barrel finish?

Need some advice from the membership here. I have a 416 stainless handgun barrel that I want blued, blackened, darkened, etc. This is not the top of my gun priority list to get done, and I don't have the capability to set up tanks and such. I know that stainless won't take traditional blue, and just wanted to see if anyone has any DIY methods for coating. Thanks in advance.
