THIS IS PART II. IF YOU HAVEN'T ALREADY, START WITH PART I.
http://www.longislan...-part-i-photos/

The rifle comes with a single stage trigger that pulls crisp
and clean without any creep at about 5lbs. Acceptable so I
decided to keep it without making any changes.

I wanted a DUAL operation AR15 - long distance shooting
with magnifying optics AND quick release for use with quality
irons on the top rail.

Using the Burris P.E.P.R. (Proper Eye Position Ready)
quick release tactical scope rings I can quickly remove
and reattach my optics without any loss of center.

Left side rifle profile. Can make use of a laser or xenon
flashlight... or both!

Magpul AFG for a better, more natural gripping of the
quad-rail handguard. A UTG solid, yet light, bi-pod for
a no nonsense quick deploy and tight storage.

Mako GLR16 Israeli Design Combat Stock with a beefy
buttpad that features a tire-inspired rubber texture for
recoil control and more grip offering decent storage. Solid
adjustable cheek riser and 6 sling attachments. Pinned
for compliance.

Troy Industries Rear Site tucked nicely under the quick
release P.E.P.R. and BSA optics. Quality Daniel Defense
Burnsed Loop Receiver End Plate Sling Mount Adapter -
Ambidextrous.

Milspec Buffer Tube provides slightly stronger construction,
deeper threading and rear flat profile.

With quick release of the optics, Troy battle sights are
in place for ready action.

Another view of the Troy battle sights. Sweet, isn't it?

Typical results at 100yrds using 75gr+ 5.56 NATO ammo.

Results of "rapid" 1 second interval shots with a 10 round
magazine - approx. 1.5" MOA. Slower targeting will yield
MOA easily.

Handloaded 75gr - 77gr ammo will shoot MOA all day.

It was a very successful and rewarding build. Taking
one of the industry's best kept secrets and making it
into a fine firearm that anyone can be proud of.

Mission accomplished. Thanks for reading.

Awesome write-up! An AR is probably next on my list. Thanks for taking the time to put this together.

Looks cool. I've never seen a P.E.P.R. mounted that way.
I have the same mount and when I was researching it before I purchased, every photo or video I saw had it mounted in the opposite direction.

Either direction works. I prefer to have the quick release knobs on my right.

I also have some rifles where the scopes are not straight but rather in a 90
counter-clock wise position - reticle permitting.

There is method behind my madness.

Nice write up. Can you share some of the details about the muzzle brake? A friend has the MP-15 and was thinking of having a gunsmith install a brake but a bolt on might be a good way to go.

So i assume it's safe to say you're feeling better? Good looking rifle. Nicely done. Now, as was asked over the weekend....when are you having your gun sale?

That mount "can" be mounted either way but the cantilever is designed to move the scope forward for more eye relief on an AR platform rifle.
Very nice build!

How do you like that mount? I was thinking about one for a Ziess Diavari mc . The Burris was cheaper than the Larue l04 !

Never had a chance to test it out in the field, or bang it up,
but from inspection it looks well built. Burris makes quality
merchandise. I've had it off, and placed it back on with
no need to sight in again. Although heavier, I've always
preferred 3 bolt designs too. I would recommend it.

Yeah that scope mount was designed to be mounted in the opposite direction. It kicks forward to give you the eye relief. Otherwise nice set up!
