One student shot another in a Baltimore area high school Monday, giving students there a lesson in terror on their first day back in school, police said.
The shooting at Perry Hall High School was reported around 11 a.m. and within minutes SWAT teams had surrounded the suburban school and students could be seen evacuating the buildings.
Police quickly apprehended a suspected gunman and local TV showed footage of a shirtless young man in handcuffs being marched to a police cruiser.
The suspect's name was not known.
The victim, who had reportedly been shot in the back, was flown by chopper to a nearby hospital. The condition and identity of the student was not known.
Located in a suburb northeast of Baltimore, Perry Hall has 2,300 students and just last week was visited by U.S. Secretary of Education Arne Duncan.
Why does shit like this only happen on election years?

Just sayin'
Ban high schools!

Sad day indeed but wtf, seriously...
Calls for more gun control already in the comments on one of the reports.  Really?  A kid that obtained the firearm illegally, and brought it onto school property illegally, and fired it at a student illegally is really going to be stopped by more laws?  Really?
Yeah that i dont get. Look at austrailia and what happened there crime went up...

More gun controls will do nothing, the criminals are NOT obeying the law as is... so its not going to stop them, its just going to stop those of us who FOLLOW the law.

It's easier for me to obtain a firearm (and cheaper) illegaly then legally, yet i follow the law and get penalized and treated like a criminal... its mind boggling this damn state and its ass backwards rules/laws.
"Why should a civilian have the right to carry an armed weapon to begin with (legally) is beyond me..."

Self defense is a really complicated concept, I guess. lol

Yet, when more and more "gun control" laws keep proving ineffective, since our elected officials keep demonizing guns and do nothing to address the REAL prpblem of crime, the logical conclusion is elimination/banning of all firearms....even then, the underlying REAL prpblem will remain and the population becomes a target rich environment for the criminal element. Just ask the Aussies how that worked out for them.
Most of those crimes are concentrated in minority areas, committed by a minority of people living there.  How can expect to fix the problem by focusing your laws on the majority?  I'm not saying this to be racist at all, it just is what it is.  It's not PC to say out loud so no one is willing to focus on the specific issues.  It really is a disservice to the innocent people being forced to live in these areas, they are essentially being held hostage by political correctness and are paying for it with their lives.

Think ny has problems try Baltimore
According to the FBI's 2010 stats Baltimore is #3 for murders (#1 being New Orleans and #2 St. Louis) with 34.8 per 100,000. NYC is well down the list at 6.4 per 100k. Yes, NYC cooks the books, but I image so do most other cities.

Note that #4 is Detriot, which no longer really has a government, so being #3 is quite the achievement.
yes they all cook the books ,the cities in this country are a mess ny is really one of the safest
where did Chicago rank with their 15-20 murders every night of the weekend?
Insane. Was just in B'more over the weekend for crabs (the only good thing in the city). The drive in from the highway makes Bushwick look like central park west

Because women should take the pill in case they get raped, but they shouldn't be able to carry concealed to prevent the rape from happening.
Gotta get some semi-autos in them schools so Staff can defend against trash like that.IMO. ;)
