Base is locked down
3rd shooter confirmed on Fox news
7 people are dead and 12 are wounded in a shooting on the military base at Ft. Hood Texas.
My condolences to the families of the dead and injured but I think we should all write our representatives and demand that weapons should not be allowed on military bases. Make them all gun free zones. Makes sense doesn't it? About as much sense as it does in the civilian world.

What gets to me seriously is that with all the weaponry that is readily available on a military base to be able to fight back, 19 people are dead or seriously injured, what chance does the unarmed civilian populace have in areas such as "gun free zones".  Apparently, the people on the base had no chance, civilians have less than no chance.
At Least 7 Dead, 20 Wounded in Shooting at Ft. Hood in Texas
Thursday, November 05, 2009

Print ShareThisDEVELOPING: A mass shooting at Ft. Hood military post in Texas has left at least 7 dead and 20 wounded and one suspected gunman is on the loose, officials told Fox News.

A massive manhunt was under way for the suspect at large, Fox News confirmed. One person was in custody. The New York Post said that there were two shooters at the Army post massacre; other reports said there were three.

The attack apparently happened at Ft. Hood's Soldier Readiness Center. Army officials didn't know whether the victims were civilians or military personnel.

Other media reports said the number of victims remained unclear.

The men were reportedly dressed in Army fatigues, but military officials couldn't confirm that they were Army personnel.

The base and area schools were on lockdown after the mass shooting, and all those on the Army post were asked to gather for a head count.

The FBI was en route to Ft. Hood to provide assistance.

There have been several previous deadly incidents at Ft. Hood, including a shooting of one soldier by another at a party in July; a rape and fatal shooting of an Army medic at her apartment near the post 11 years ago; and the murder-suicide of a lieutenant by a soldier in September 2008.

I heard another report that said there were three assailants with two on the loose. It also said the shootings occurred at different locations within the fort. Almost sounds like an organized operation. More than one person doing this rules out a single unstable person. Not good.
Let's hope the shooters were Army personnel, otherwise this will be the battle cry to repeal the 2A..."Even our military bases aren't safe from gun-crazed civilians!!"  I can hear it already.  Wouldn't surprise me if the Feds stage some of these shootings, just to stoke the fires of the anti-gun movement.

That's what concerns me. Sounds like it's the same type of attack that Muslim homegrown terrorists wanted to carry out at Fort Dix, NJ in 2007.
I wouldn't go as far as dv0042 is suggesting about a federal conspiracy but I would definitely be concerned about a homegrown terrorist attack. The fact there was three is not the earmark of a crazed civilian.  They infiltrate and set off bombs in Afghanistan by getting in to secure areas dressed as Afghani cops etc. A car with a bomb would be subject to closer scrutiny entering a military base, but a soldier in uniform on foot? It could very well happen here.  If this is the case of terrorist infiltration, we are in deeper s--t than 9-11.  An attack on civilian buildings is one thing but an attack on the very people who are supposed to protect this from happening?  If this turns out to be the case, I will go down fighting before I give up my guns because of some politicians bulls--t that more gun control would have stopped this. And I would hope all of us here and every gun owner would make this very well known to all of our politicians.
Casualty count is now at 9 dead, 30 wounded :(

They now state at least 3 shooters.
Oh great - Obammy is going to address the nation on this. It's been more than an hour since he's been on TV so I guess this is another 'catastrophe' that won't go to waste.
Strange times we're living in when stuff like this happens and you have to HOPE it's terrorism. Although the government and the media have away of explaining away anything domestic that's on a smaller scale.
Maybe these guys are taking up where the Ft. Dix, NJ terrorist left off.

That's what I think. They are sending us a message that if they can shoot up our army bases that nobody is safe anywhere ... little do they know that we Americans are not pushovers. They will never defeat the American people.
This isn't going to be good if they were using "assault rifles". "Look, even the Army is no match for these horrible weapons. We MUST have a new assault weapon ban!" (not wasting another crisis )
12 Dead, 31 Wounded .  One shooter dead and two suspects under arrest.   Reason for attack still unknown.
Saying it was 3 soldiers now and handguns were used. 12 dead at this point.

Be careful. You don't want to offend the Muslims by saying their community is more apt than others to produce radical terrorists.
