Whatever happened to owning one rifle that did it all? In the "old" days you had your rifle, and you shot whatever it is you were hunting for. You also knew how your rifle shot without having to refer to notes and research.
Now hunting is becoming like a shoe store: You need this rifle to hunt for this, but it wouldn't do at all to hunt for that!
Why wouldn't a lever action .35 or even .30-30 loaded with solid bullets do the job? Its also a heck of a lot quicker to chamber a new round vs. a bolt.

I had only one rifle for all my hunting and I did it all with a Remington BDL 742 30-06
So I guess having the "wrong" rifle doesn't bother you? Shocking! ;D

I'm a fan of Savage also, and I read the article in some magazine. Somehow I didn't have the overwhelming urge to run out and buy one.
