No
Only for a sanctioned pistol match. We have the Northvale, NJ pistol team shoot at our range and we shoot at theirs.

What if they get stopped by the police? They have pistols but no license for them?

On the contrary...they keep us all nice and "safe". After all, if a licensed individual can't transport a legally owned handgun into NYS for anything but a sanctioned shooting competition, what criminal would dare do the same? It's just unthinkable.

If it were me, I would have a copy of the law & a flyer or schedule of some type for the match. People come from out of state and shoot on LI often.

I work in NJ right next to the Northvale range and "technically" must go home to NY and get my guns before a shoot.

No problem if you are attending a shoot in NY just have a copy of the scheduled event.Prior to HR 218 many out of state LEO's would attend the Glock shoot in Westhampton.
