Nova is a solid start at $60 so long as its in good shape and the strings an cables are still good. Just remember if it's not your draw length and you have to get it changes it may cost $50 or so at a shop. But if it fits and the price is right go for it. Try and work it where $60 gets you the bow and some friendly instruction and tips. Then it's well worth it.

For $60 the Nova is not a bad buy (if it is in good shape). You would have spend a lot more to step up. I have a 2011 PSE stinger that is also a good solid bow but just to give you a sense of comparison...this rig cost me $500 out the door with arrows and the rest of the bells and whistles. How old is the Nova?

The nova will take down a deer just the same. Try it out if you like it upgrade, and pass the nova to someone else to start with. If you don't like it at least your only out a tenth of the price of a new rig.

The Nova is a fine bow to start with, provided the fit is good, as mentioned.
Wouldn't be a bad idea to have it checked over in a pro shop if you don't know exactly what your looking at.
