Talladega, Alabama - Project Appleseed has partnered with the Civilian Marksmanship Program (CMP) to conduct Appleseed Marksmanship and Heritage clinics at the new CMP Talladega Marksmanship Park in Talladega, Alabama in 2015 and 2016.

Earlier this year, the CMP opened its state of the art, 500-acre Marksmanship Park, which is the most modern and advanced service rifle and pistol range in the world.

Established by Congressional charter in 1903, the Civilian Marksmanship Program focuses on training and educating U. S. citizens in responsible uses of firearms and airguns through gun safety training, marksmanship training and competitions nationwide. The CMP's highest priority is serving youth through gun safety and marksmanship activities that encourage personal growth and build life skills. Project Appleseed teaches fundamental rifle marksmanship and early-American history at one- and two-day clinics across the United States. Project Appleseed shares the CMP's mission of teaching fundamental marksmanship and firearms safety to youth. Both organizations offer instruction to shooters of all skill levels.

Project Appleseed will offer six rifle marksmanship clinics over the next 16 months, including fundamental marksmanship and long-range events. The first event is scheduled for November 7-8, 2015 and will be offered for free with only a nominal range fee.

"We are excited to partner with the CMP," says Rusty Bonkoski, Project Appleseed's State Coordinator for Alabama. He adds, "The new Marksmanship Park is spectacular. From the facilities to the state-of-the-art target systems, everything is top notch. We look forward to leveraging the advanced technology, especially for our longer-distance clinics."

Sarah Hall, Operations Officer for the CMP Marksmanship Park said, "We look forward to this pairing of the Talladega Marksmanship Park and Project Appleseed. Project Appleseed helps further our mission of firearm safety with an emphasis on youth."
