How are the lakes in Patchogue for launching boats? Patchogue, Swan and Mill? The DEC site says hand launch only but would I be able to walk a small trailer down? Also how do the locals feel about non locals fishing these lakes. I know further east people get a little possessive about their lakes.

I know people who have used fishing kayaks on those lakes without incident.

That said, go early, quietly, and stealthy.

Patchogue Lake- used to put my folding Portabote in at the end of the street just south of the SCPD/ But a guardrail precludes any trailer. twenty years ago caught gigantic bluegills there.

There is a small concrete access and launch area for Greater Patch Lake on the west side among some houses. Check Google maps.

Supposedly decent bass fishing but no shelter from wind.

Someone told me there are even a few bowfin in that lake.

Thanks for the correction. Its been a while since I tackled sweetwater. For Patchogue Lake, Looking just now at Google Earth Pro, go east on East 3rd Street, hang a right on Central and a quick left going east on East 2nd street and at the end of the street there appears to be access. And if you look soon before google changes the pic, you will see a vehicle with boat trailer parked on the north side of East 2nd, facing west. The guardrail must be gone, lol.
I seem to recall the cemetery, but as I said, its been a while. (Wish they would issue memories with Medicare cards.)
