PA non-resident renewal experience

Recently, a friend and myself stopped off at the Centre County sheriffs office to renew our PA CCW's. New regulations require a photo and "signature capture" so you now have to go in person to renew. There were two very nice women at the counter who gave us the forms to fill out. We handed them our completed forms, NY and PA licenses along with the $20 renewal fee and waited about 10 minutes while they performed the background checks. Another five minutes or so while they printed the licenses and that was it. All in all, maybe 20 minutes!

20 minutes and some nice conversation. No restrictions, attitudes, comments or nonsense. The same background checks were performed. Now why is it that our own home State of New York couldn't be the same way? The more I experience other states, the more I hate this liberal sh*t hole.

keep in mind they are just doing a cursory check, since you have a license from your home state..... Ever ask them how long a PA resident new license application takes?.... I'm sure not 20 minutes.

...but I'm also sure it's not the punitive process and 6 months+ we deal with here!

True. Legal residents can openly carry without a license ... except in the City of Brotherly Love.

Question for the OP? Is the new license PVC or paper? I was told that in some counties, you can pay extra for a PVC license.

Both of my daughters and son-in-law live in PA.
Took them 5 min. in the sherriff's office to drop off forms and have their pictures taken.
A week and a half later they all had their conceled carry permits.
