Has anyone on here gotten one / currently holds one? I am going to be renting an apartment in Stamford to ease commute woes while working on a deal there. There is some time before I close so I went ahead and requested (subsequently received promptly) the application form from the CT Dept. of Public Safety. As you can imagine, the process is vastly easier than what I experienced in Suffolk. So far, I understand that I need to take a safety course, i.e. NRA Basic Handgun Safety, and submit to finger prints / NCIS. Are there any nuance to the process akin to Suffolk's ambiguous definition of "application submission date?"

Thanks in advance

Nope.  Submit your complete app, wait about 8 weeks (I think), and voila!

Connecticut is a may issue state like the sinkhole. As long as your clean and take the course, you'll be fine. They atleast have true ccw. Good luck

You'll also need some sort of training like NRA basic pistol for a ccw.

Mailed mine in about a month ago, waiting to hear back from them. Checking the mail everyday.

Thanks for all the feedback. It seems like a relatively painless process vis a vis the NY rigamorole. I will report back after hearing.

It seems painless because it is.  It's a very reasonable app.  Even though they are considered may issue, they are de facto shall issue as far as I know.

Did my app back in 2005 and everything went quickly. A friend has hers too, but she was a resident at the time. As the mongoose said, they are de jure "may issue," but de facto "shall issue." (especially for out of state permits). All the big ccw websites are (or used to be) in agreement on this.
