Oklahoma Home Invasion - Deadly Force - Aftermath

Check out this story about a recent home invasion posted on XDTalk. I think a lot of people talk about what they "would do" without much consideration for the broader impact on their family and living situation. Reading through this guy's (ongoing) ordeal could prove helpful...

We are all ok thanks to my wife. There is no way to prepare for a phone call from your wife while you are at work that go exactly like this:

Me: Hi sweetie!
Wife: I need you home now, I just shot two invaders!
Me: On the way now! (end of call)

Wow... Just Wow...

My heart goes out to him and the family. Even though he is offering sound advice, I am not sure how the family lawyer would feel about them discussing ANYthing on an online firearms forum.
I can only imagine how different this would have gone had she been here on LI.
I'm glad he lives in a state where the laws and local LE support him. I'd be wary about saying a thing until the legal dust settles. Posting anything about the incident a day after it is a bit of a mistake in my mind.

A good learning tool to be sure.

+100,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,000,
My daughter moved from Midwest City, OK about a year ago!

It's terrible the turmoil that results from even a justified shooting. I guess the only consolation is that he still has his wife, kids and some chance of rebuilding their lives.

The turmoil there came from the remaining gang members in the area and the gang family. The difference is that here, the turmoil would have come from the LE personnel as they tried to fry him in court.
I'm sure these 2 utes were upstanding pillars of the community and were probably only trying to retrieve their ball that bounced through their window. Then they were shot for no reason at all.
Better to be Judged by 12 than carried by six.
I'm sure they would do it again.
As much as their lives have been up-ended, they are alive as a family.

Different than the CT outcome. Although the perp in CT will be given the death sentence - the guys FAMILY is gone.
I am sure that anyone here would drop the perp without thinking of the consequences first. In the moment we would ALL be thinking of preservation of OUR lives, OUR families.
My heart goes out to him. It does suck.
