Once you have the materials to fire it. Ie, you need a license, and it needs to go on it. BATF does not. I think. How do other states see it? Particularly neighboring states?

I am looking at the use of one hunting to see if there are any regs, but it just seems so inconsistent.

NJ=pistol permit
MA=pistol permit
CT=nothing, it ain't a firearm
FL=nothing, it ain't a firearm
Black power pistols?  Oh, you mean Black Powder, gotcha.

I understand your intent but it's a LICENSE, not a permit.

I stand corrected one crime since 1892
NY is crazy.....I cant have a wrist rocket.....but I can mail order a black powder pistol.

What in the world caused them to focus in on black powder pistols?
Have you heard about the new blow gun control laws comming soon, any blowgun above 40 cal being outlawed
Be careful, soon they might start charging people for possessing staple and nail guns.
How do you go about buying one? Can you buy one mail order then take it down to HQ to add to your card when you intend to get bullets and powder to shoot it, or it can only be done through a FFL?

If outside NYC, you can order it or buy it over the counter. Before you plan on acquiring the 3 things needed to fire it, you go and get it put on your license. Some of the folks out in Yaphank were not sure about how or why to do this recently, but I think they should have it straightened out by now

you have to love states like NY there are so many ambiguous and silly laws on the books that the enforcers of said laws do not have a clue about the, its just too funny
It sounds like Michael Bloomberg must be awake all night trying to come up with new ideas how to make his kingdom a safer place. I guess the next thing will be red Ryder BB gun's you can shoot your eye out.
Not only can you buy one over the counter, in many states you can go to a place like Academy Sports as a 16 year old kid and buy the pistol, caps, powder and projectiles.

Don't you remember the big fued between Ike Clanton's gang and MS-13 down by the corral ?? :p :p

Seriously, once you have the gun listed on your license, how do you ever get it removed once you're bored with the novelty?

Really the only people that could consistently use a blowgun over 40 cal are employed in Southern California making 45 minute DVD's.

I thought about mail ordering one from Cabelas.

You either tell them you sold it (have paper to make that easier) or that you have divested yourself of the means to use it
