I am in Nassau and have been considering getting a crossbow and another compound bow (I have an old one I used as a kid in PA on vacation's). Where can I go to shoot them? Will Archery range's allow the crossbow? Also how much does it generally cost to go to the range? Thanks.

In Nassau go to C&B Archery in Hicksville cbarchery.com friendly staff have a range & pro shop. Not sure if you can shoot a crossbow there I'm thinking no because there are others on the line, but a call will give you the correct answer or one of the members will chime in.

Smithpoint archery in Patchogue worth the ride large selection of compound and cross bows I think they have a deal if you buy a bow shoot free for a year.

I know suffolk archers doe NOT allow crossbows or broadheads at the range.
C&B sells them, call and ask about the range though.

Gave them a call No crossbow's allowed on the range although they do sell them. The guy I spoke to said some range's (not them) may have after hour's set up for xbows but didn't tell me where. Anyone know where on LI I can shoot xbow. I wish my yard was bigger.

There are some who feel that crossbows are not archery equipment .

There are 'many' who feel that crossbows are not archery equipment . The Catholic church in medieval times actually outlawed their use.
seems it was no challenge at all for a newbie to hit one's target. You will probably never see a xbow legalized during bowhunting season.
