Would anybody actually buy this?

What is the Palm Pistol®?
The Palm Pistol® is an ergonomically innovative single shot defensive firearm chambered in .38 special that may be fired using either hand without regard to orientation of the stock. Suited for home defense, concealed carry or as a backup gun. It is also ideal for seniors, disabled or others who may have limited strength or manual dexterity. Using the thumb instead of the index finger for firing, it significantly reduces muzzle drift, one of the principle causes of inaccurate targeting. Point and shoot couldn't be easier.

Pre-Production Sales
We plan a limited initial production run with a projected retail cost of $300. Sales are restricted to US citizens and resident aliens as permitted by law. All transfers must be made through a Federal Firearms Licensee (FFL).

Key Features
■Uses thumb instead of index finger to fire
■Optional Picatinny rail for accessorizing
■Designed for LaserLyte Subcompact V2 laser sight
■Loaded chamber indicator
■Cocked striker indicator
■Easy breech access and loading

■Dual independently operable grip safeties

■Discreet concealment

■ATF classified as standard "pistol"

Single shot?
38?
Looks like something just begging to go off in a pocket.
None for me , thanks.
Definately different. This is something for like <3' of distance.  I couldn't imagine aiming like that.
NO WAY!!!!!

what if it misfires?? what if you miss with the first shot?? what if it actually works and goes off in your pocket??
Ranks right up there with this one...

The gun sells for about $5,000, but company chief executive Paul Erard has said most buyers choose the $30,000 model encrusted with gold and diamonds. Erard reportedly said only about 50 mini-guns have been sold, all in the Middle East.
Gee Gaws like the Palm Pistol are what I call absolutely the last resort, if suicide is the only way out. Other than that a totally useless piece of "fluff." If you are looking for something with a degree of credibility try a new "Derringer", at least you have two shots, or a teeny weeny LCP, Seekamp or other equally absurd dental tool gun. "Doc"
I would like to see it first before condeming it. 38+P ?
Looks lika a palm nailer. And a rail? a RAIL? You are gonna put tactikewl gadgets on there like what, how about an ACOG?

I vote for a mouse gun over that too, even a .25 beats that in my book.
I wouldn't even own one as a curiosity in my handgun collection.

Definitely pass on that one.
I would like to be there when someone tell's them it is for Target shooting,or hunting..
you probably could not register it as it does not look enough like a gun

I agree. What is a gun supposed to look like. Cars change and evolve, I guess gun can too. Who is to say you can't register because it doesn't look like a gun? Just goes to show that no matter how silly it may look or how intimidating, they both function the same and have equal results. Only difference is this little one doesn't have the thing that goes up.

No there are no pre-ban palm pistols :(

Too bad it would have looked badass with a bayo and flash suppressor.
Here is a pre-ban palm pistol from 1893- with matching numbers :D
Interestingly, this is not really a neww idea as evidenced by the below:

Dental tool gun ??? I love it !!! :) :) :)
MAPLEWOOD, NJ - Endurance testing of the Palm Pistol prototype was completed in August, 2010.

The procedure consisted of firing 10,000 standard rounds and 100 proof loads. Every 500 rounds, the gun was completely disassembled and subjected to wet fluorescent magnetic particle inspection (MPI) by an ASTM certified non-destructive testing laboratory.

The five structurally critical components (barrel, latch, receiver, barrel pivot pin and latch pivot pin) all withstood the test and passed with "no indications found." Findings concluded the design was robust and structurally safe. The next task is the drop test. There were some functional/ergonomic issues that surfaced which will be addressed in the production model.

We have started the process of obtaining production quotes from the various manufacturing specialties such as investment casting, wire EDM, plastics injection molding, stamping, etc.

We do not yet have an estimate on production start date or retail cost.
