North Whitehall man pulls pistol over peeing dog, police say

A North Whitehall Township man pulled a handgun Sunday on a neighborhood couple whose dog was urinating in his bushes, police said.

Scott A. Spence, 47, of 4202 Cheyenne Court, also refused initially to surrender to police who were called at 6:58 p.m., state police at Bethlehem said. The standoff forced police to close the street for two and a half hours.

Spence eventually gave himself up and was charged with making terroristic threats against Stacey and Dennis Sabol, the North Whitehall couple walking the dog, police said.

Spence allegedly came out of his house with the pistol and threatened to kill the Sabols when he saw their dog peeing in his bushes.

He also was charged with harassment and disorderly conduct. Arraigned Monday morning, he was released on $15,000 bail.
