Man says he killed mugger fleeing on bike in South Dallas

A Sachse man shot his alleged mugger to death in South Dallas early Friday morning, according to police records.

Nicholas Lewis, 22, who lived on Cleveland Street, died in the hospital a few hours after he allegedly held up Jeffrey Hall, 43, in the 1800 block of Pennsylvania Avenue.

Lewis pointed a semiautomatic pistol at Hall and demanded his wallet, according to a police report. Hall told police he handed his wallet to Lewis, who started to ride away on a bicycle.

But Lewis then turned, according to police, and fired at Hall - missing him and striking his pickup.

Hall then pulled out his licensed pistol and shot Lewis multiple times, according to police. Hall shot Lewis in the torso, the buttocks and the head, according to Lewis' sister, who says she watched him die at Baylor Medical Center at Dallas a few hours later.

That guy better get a good lawyer, maybe even a private ballistic report. 'Cause if the perp was hit in the back someone's got some 'splaining to do.

On the bright side, there's one less ahole in the world!

So he gave up his wallet and the guy still shot at him? Seems like he may be o.k. if they can prove it.

You know and I know that even in Texas you're guilty, until proven innocent. Especially since the nice young man was "just riding his bicycle when the just opened fire on that nice young churchgoing child"

I would think its the opposite there. In Texas, I think he'll be OK.

Dude, this happened in Texas, he'll be fine. The shooter is probably having dinner with the police.

Texas is a whole nother world forign to us here. If someone is messing with your car, on the street, you can use DPF to protect your property. In the above story lewis had commited a robery then popped a cap into hall's pick up, Justified shooting. No doubt. My kid brother is on Houston PD and a bunch of cousins are with DPS or Harris county sheriff. They had passed a castle docturin law (sorry for the bad spelling and typing) a couple of years ago. Crime had dropped, Go figure. He was telling me about a call of a break in , When he arrived , a little old lady had a perp pinned in her shed. Every time the perp poked his head out granny took a shot at it. One of the guys gave granny a new box of .38 he had in his breifcase and they took or should I say saved the perp. God Bless Texas.
