I've never hunted, but would like to get into it (passed my hunters safety course, and even picked up a hunting permit that I never used last year)

In looking into NY hunting restrictions I couldn't find info on how many shells your shotgun is allowed to legally hold for turkey hunting...

So, is it 5rds like for deer, or 3rds like for waterfowl?

iI don't think turkey hunting is subject to the same magazine restriction as waterfowl. I believe you can load them up, even the old 6 plus 1 found in the old winchesters.

Three limit applies to waterfowl. Many new shotguns are plugged to only hold a total of three rounds. Use an extra full choke with #4,5 or 6 shot high brass shot shells that are found in 10 round boxes available at Wal-Mart.
The upstate Wal-Mart has a good selection of Turkey hunting items.

They should make it more clear, since there's even different opinions from you guys.

I'm not looking to go all schwarzenegger and hunt turkeys by tearing down the woods with a constant stream of 12 gauge blasts or anything like that, I just thought it was strange that the round limit wasn't more obvious.
