We're told that nobody wants to take your guns, and we should adopt common sense laws like Austrialia.

Australia is now looking to ban lever action shot guns. This will of course result in the lever action loophole, that allows non shotguns with lever actions to be owned.

This bit of news is useful to aid us in the debate about the future of gun control.

Remember, the controllers are willing to violate the first, fourth and fifth amendment to eliminate the second, and the left wants these people to govern our lives.

I still can't get over the premise that the ban is to protect them from terrorists. What self respecting terrorist would ever try anything with a lever action.. anything?? lol

An hour later and I'm still chuckling at it.

I'm surprised they didn't work in 'it's for the children' somehow. Maybe they couldn't do it without breaking out into giggles, so he just went with the terrorist angle.

just a bit off topic, but I came across a Browning BLR last week and have determined it is on my want list. Magazine fed, lever action, stainless steel, takedown hunting rifle in 7MM Rem or 308, for about $1K....(would really like 4570 I think, but 308 will do) http://www.browning.com/products/catalog/firearms/finder.asp?f1=003B&f3=&f4=&msrp=

Not the Jim West / Wild West Guns Alaskan Guide or CoPilot, but still a good choice I think.

Something about lever action rifles....

Just to be honest, had to note

"...t a Thursday press conference, RCMP commissioner Bob Paulson confirmed that Zehaf-Bibeau had carried out the shootings with a Winchester 30-30 lever action rifle, a quintessentially Canadian bush gun that is not normally the first choice of would-be terrorists.."

And that POS shot the soldier guarding the war memorial in the back.

And yet no one back home even talked about the gun he used, just that he was a POS.

This is the gun that made the Australians wet their panties.... Now I want one just on principal.

Correct me if I am wrong, but it does not seem any faster than a pump action....

The level of ignorance displayed by the anti firearms community is truly astounding.
Historically bans have been effective at keeping items away from law abiding individuals.
Prohibition was a perfect example.
Individuals who want to cause harm will find a way, the best way to deal with that threat is to allow people to defend themselves.
There is no other way.

I stand corrected. Apparently one terrorist did in fact use a lever action firearm. Granted not in Australia..
