As most of you know, our friend Denny Nau is retiring at the end of the year. So this renewal visit was likely the last I'll see him while he's still Sheriff, before a well deserved rest.
I can not say enough about the man. He came out and we spoke for a while and I'm just awed at what a gentleman he is.
I wish him a safe, happy and long retirement.
Oh, and the renewal took all of ten minutes.
Might have been the bag 'o goodies for the staff that sped it up, but only by 5 miuntes. They loves them some NY bagels!

There are a number of good sites on the web which summarize ccw laws. This is one. Go and check others.

www.handgunlaw.com
Not a valid site as it's bogus and from another country but thanks for looking. I'll do some more research.

EDIT> I think you meant http://www.handgunlaw.us

Thank you will read up.

Can anyone confirm if I already have the Utah CCW, I'm not really gaining anything from the Penn. permit correct?

The last I heard PA only honors resident UT permits, not non-resident ones. I picked up a non-res NH which gives you PA as well but recent readings suggest PA will not honor any non-resident permits from other states in the future.

Sheriff Nau is WAY into PA; does anyone know if any of the closer counties, right over the state line from NJ, are similarly friendly?

All the counties contiguous with NY/NJ have stopped issuing to out of staters.
True, but any other counties anyone is aware of that are a bit closer? I'm coming from between Pike/Wayne (neither of which are Out of State "friendly"). Lancaster is as far as Centre County (though at least in Lancaster I could hit Shady Maple Smoregasbord). Something a tiny bit more east than Centre would be nice.

FWIW, not that the good Sheriff has ever done anything differently for us, he is simply a decent man, a responsible elected official and a fine American. Anyway, with the number of us who have been treated professionally and respectfully by Sheriff Nau and his staff, who would be willing to kick in on a plaque or some other kind of thank you memento? A little retirement gift for a "friend".
Not sure of the legality, not suggesting anything that would be inappropriate but what do I know.

Edit: spelling
