Good News!

"The Illinois Supreme Court ruled last week that persons permitted to carry firearms in other states may transport them in Illinois without first obtaining a state Firearm Owners Identification (FOID) card."

Excellent question!
An attorney well-versed in Illinois handgun law would be in a better position to respond.
If it were me, I would obtain a non-resident CCW from another state and drive carefully through or drive around Ill.

It doesn't.... Federal FOPA "should" protect you 'trasnporting'... which is NOT 'in the armrest' as the case noted claimed.

The Indiana resident in question should have had his gun properly locked away in a case in the trunk.

(Illinois does NOT issue carry licenses - yet - it's working through the legislature now)

(Spent a LOT of time in Illinois...)

Please note that "transporting through" Illinois is not the same a "carrying in" Illinois. Federal law allow for transportation, not multi-state carry.
