I am going to Virginia and I thought great, got my PA a little while back, I'm carrying. Not so fast. The people I am going with do not feel comfortable with guns and will not go if I bring the side arm and exercise my 2A rights.

Yes, I told them of my intentions. I did not think it would be right to not tell them, although if I carry correctly, they would never know.

Anyway, I guess I will have to wait until the next trip. What do you guys think? No, I will not get new friends, and no, I do not think I am a pussy.

Take every opportunity to educate them along the way.

I will try, but having grown up in New York they have that gun=evil way of thinking that can not be easily changed. Also, the argument was made that kids will be present. I don't think this should have any bearing on the matter if I carry correctly.

I would have gone with concealed means concealed and never told them.  There are reasons for this that have nothing to do with their views on guns.  Nobody but you should know when you are carrying.  But since you are past that point now, I would do as FatWhiteMan suggests.  Also let them know that since they are so anti-gun, you will never use yours to defend their lives.

I personally see no reason to carry a handgun unless you feel in danger. I don't buy this excuse around here that you are "exercising your 2a rights". To me it continues to be a case of a childish desire to do something you can't do in NY state.

With that said, I wouldn't tolerate anyone telling me I couldn't carry because they felt uncomfortable. Guess you have no choice but I would probably let them know I am conceding to their wishes but not pleased.

I typed something other than girl private. I find it funny that no naughty words and even some not so naughty words are not allowed on this site, especially considering the freedoms that most if not all people that frequent this site believe in. Anyway I digress, girl private away.

In Hindsight, I could not agree more.

Could not agree less. And that is some scary thinking.
