Has anyone heard any news about this: http://thomas.loc.gov/cgi-bin/bdquery/z?d112:HR00822:mad:@@X
It seems like a really good thing so far, but still doesn't help NYS residents get unrestricted CCW. I for one hope it passes.

I didn't read it, but if it passes, your PA CCW license would also work in NYS. Just sayin...

A resident of the home state must have a concealed weapons license for it to work.

Read the bill. Specifically 926D(c).  Your NYS restrictions will not stop you if this passes. Of course, I doubt it would get signed if it did pass.

Yeah but take that in context with 926D(a), "notwithstanding any provision", all a local municipality would have tro do is make a local provision disallowing carry, right?

I would say no. NYS law say a permit to carry is valid all over the state minus NYC unless issued in NYC then your golden for the whole state. Plus that premption case in LI says locals cannot make handgun laws. Of course speaking only about NYS.

Question about the HR 822...Lets say You are a Florida resident visiting Suffolk County (or New York for that matter) and you have a valid Florida CCW, Can you carry in New York?

We also have to look then at the magazine capacity stuff. If you are from Florida carrying a 17 round magazine, you have to know which states allow and don't allow standard capacity magazines and which require castrated magazines.

The NRA has a great book listing carry laws of the fifty states. It gets updated annually. I hope to one day need a copy eash year.
