Guns in the home = More chance of getting shot

Especially if you're hitting the 72 year old homeowner with a bat and he has one in his hand.

About 8:45 p.m., three teenage males knocked on the door of a home in the 3300 block of Raines Street, Pensacola Police Department officials said.

When resident Jack Crawford, 72, answered the door, one of the teens hit him in the head with an aluminum bat and tried to force his way into the home.

"I opened it up, and he hit me right off. ... Wham! Split my head open," Crawford said.

"So I shot him and another guy," Crawford said, chuckling as he told the story to a Pensacola News Journal reporter Sunday evening. "I could have shot the third one, but I would have had to shoot him in the back as he ran away."

Nice world we live in today, where the very old have to be afraid to open up there doors. At least he was calm enough and had the smarts not to shoot the 3rd guy in the back.
I wonder what he shot them with that both survived point blank gun shot wounds.

Next time bring a bigger caliber and shoot them a few more times !!

Kidding aside (well, not really), I'm glad the homeowner took care of his home and safety. This is what we're fighting for, to be able to protect ourselves.

Do not tread on me !!
Did this guy have a peephole?

This guy sounds awesome
I like the part about answering the door with the gun in one hand. Very cinematic.
Good he held off on the 3rd dirtbag. Nothing would make their day than to report the arrest of an armed homeowner for defending their life...even if he/she is up there in age.

you don't?
If this had happened here in NY, the headline would have included:

Homeowner arrested after poor, helpless teens come begging for help.
All of them were choir boys who volunteer with the elderly and hold honor student status at their school where they are all model students of course.
More Like:

"All the young men were up and coming hip hop artists and simply wanted to ask the senior citizen his opinion on some new beats by testing the sound on his head with a bat. The gunowner reacted indiscriminintely and shot the musicians with a pistol, not much different than the one used in Tuscon. The homeowner will be charged with attempted murder, and hate crime charges are pending after it is determined race played a role in this shooting crime."
+1 for the good guys!
