Hey guys, I'm new here. I should be getting my license any day now, and I'm looking to pick something up when it comes. Im sure it's been discussed before so forgive me in advance, but I'm looking for the closest decent gun shop to Yaphank. I wanna take care of it in a day, and it would be nice if I can make a purchase from a shop like 10-15 minutes from there. I'm in commack, and I was considering suffolk sportsman, but I'd like something a little closer. Any recommendations for a good shop that won't rob me?
The drive is not bad, especially in the middle of the day. Only time I ever went to Suffolk Shooting Supply, the place was the size of a walk-in closet. Bensons isnt that far, but it's all the way up on 25, which is pretty far from the LIE out there. Time wise, Chesters in Ronkonkoma would probably take just as long to go back and forth from. Medford Range on 112 just south of the LIE also sells, but very limited supply, and I have never really looked at prices.
Thanks for all the feedback. I'd rather drive an extra 10 minutes if there's a price difference. I'm looking for a glock 17 or 19 and from what I've seen they go for about $500. Not sure if the local places raise the prices
Benson's is horrable, sorry Benson lovers, nice shop but their people skills are lacking to put it kindly, went there yesterday to buy four guns and was spoken down to, I am now shopping for a new gun shop and range.
Sorry Benson haters! Been using that shop since they were in the small building next door (over 20 years) and never had a single problem. Never saw anyone spoken down to and everyone gets proper help when it is their turn. Maybe the problem is not Benson's, maybe it is some of the customers?
Not my only LGS, one of 3. Dropped Suffolk Shooting for reasons posted above, DSI will take their place. So still have 3 to shop from.
