Has anyone attended this before? I know I was in SCPD when some was inquiring about transporting his pistol to the airport (JFK) to go to Las Vegas, NV for the Front Sight course.

A friend of mine went to Arizona a few years ago for the "Gunsite" course. He said he gained so much valuable knowlege. One thing he recommended, order your ammo online and have it delivered there to escape that small hassle and extra expense.

By the way, both Sig Sauer and S&W also host similar courses within driving distance. (NH and Mass).

Life member... never had any trouble transporting pistol....BUT... My advice is if you can fly out of Islip, DO IT.

I have to tell you, the PAPD HAS TO inspect your gun and permit. any thing that may come to question they will question(Mayor Mike has quite some pull). PS. EVERY TIME I have flown from JFK once you declare your fire arm (as FAA regs.) you have to have a PAPD inspection (policy).
I have NEVER had a LEO show up faster than 45 min. from the time they were called (only one so far was having a bad day, gave the desk clerk a hard time), but expect to be an hour and be grilled, and to have your pistol inspected at the check in(lots of fellow flyers watching, wondering whats going on).
MacAurther, The LEO's are fast, frendly, and nice, firearm frendly guys(took the time to BS with me, wanted to know how i liked the .green .40 XD).I never felt like i was "doing something I should be worried about".
PS. if your worried, you can rent pistols (and full auto rifles if you have the cash for the ammo) from front sight.
PPS. it pays to pick up ammo at wally world as the pro shop can be a bit pricy if your not a discounted member.
PPPS. have fun,the 4 day class is demanding for a newbe, depending on how hard they want to work, and trust me, its work.

I was thinking of shipping UPS the 9mm plus ammo out ahead of time. If you got questioned on 1 pistol image trying to bring
7 pistols out there at one time and plus 3000 rds of ammo.
I defenitely end up on the no fly list.

Lmao. That would do it.

As long as you have a safe place to recive them go for it. If you can buy bulk internet sale and have it shiped direct and have it in NV early, all the better.
Its about an hrs drive from down town.
PS. Don't speed. Last trip 10mph over* 150bucks.
Easy to do,speed limit is 70mph. Turns into45 at city limit. (45 feels like your walking ).

I've driven LV to LA on I-40 and I know what you mean it's like a race course to Ca., even rigs are moving along at 80mph and alot of drivers moving along at close to 3 digit speed.
