Florida CCW License Fingerprinting question

OK. I just completed the Hunter Safety Course given by Papa Bear at Campsite (great course!) I want to get a Florida ccw license. I got the application form from their website and a Fingerprint card from the FL division of licensing.  All I need to do is get fingerprinted.  My question is... Where can I get fingerprinted and what is the procedure to do so? It has to be done by a law enforcement agency so since i am in Suffolk County, am i correct in assuming it would be in Yaphank?

NO !! You go to your local precinct. Yaphank (Licensing division) is electronic and inkless. You need the old school fingerprints.

Your local precinct will accomodate you. The fee is $10. and change. You also need exact change.

Some may require you to go during certain hours. It's best to call first.

any police station should be ok. note that FLA is moving away  from issuing non resident permits so act fast make sure the PO taking your prints fills in all the info and even have him stamp the back of the fingerprint card with the police station and addressee stamp. I would also send in a copy of the receipt. I know someone in the Fla Ag dept and they told me starting next year 2011 they will no longer accept fingerprint cards only electronic fingerprints and it must be taken within Fla.

Just got back from the 2nd Precinct as it is two minutes from my house.  Took 10 minutes to do.  Thanks to all for your replies.

I concur with what was stated above, I believe Florida only accepts electronic prints taken in Florida.
This was the case when I did mine.

If you want to do the fingerprints electronically, you have to do it in Florida.  Now, they accept regular ink and card fingerprints for out of state applicants.  Sending mine out tomorrow.
