So I got my FL license, and a small place in FL. I can buy a gun in FL, and leave it there. Let's say I want to take the gun back to NY, how can this happen ?

Or is it simplier just to leave it there?

Leave it there. You cannot process a handgun in NYS without a license. New York don't recognize any other states license.

Assuming NY is your primary residence, you need a NY permit. Then have a Fl / FFL ship to a NY / FFL. Get a purchase document, pick up from FFL, and get it added to your permit. It's really up to you whether it's worth the trouble or not.

What FL license? Are you talking Drivers License or CCW? If you swapped your NYDL for a FLDL, you are no longer a resident of NYS and must relinquish you NYS CCW or Premises License. You can only be a resident of one State. If you just got your FL CCW, you may carry in FL, but you may not purchase a handgun outside your state of residence, which I assume is NY.

If you are a NY resident obtain a pistol license.I believe if you live a certain amount of days in Florida you may purchase a firearm a 3 day wait for a handgun or if you have a FL CCW you may leave with it there. Its up to you if you would like to have it go FL FFL to NY FFL .Florida is now looking to pass open carry.

gotta love internet communication !! I'll try again.
I have a NYS permit, I am a NY resident.
I got my FL CCW license, and a place in FL. I visit some relatives and friends down there, (whatever)

I can buy a gun in FL, and leave it there, correct ?
this way when I am down there, I can carry, go to range, hunt hogs, whatever.

now the issue of what if I ever decide to bring the gun back to NY ?? It's my property, correct. Do I need to go through FFL??

This is no different than many of you who hold a utah and pa permit ? should you happen to have a part time residence there. Like having a weekend house in the pocono's. But your not traveling back and forth with your guns. (due to the hassle factor involved)

I don't think you can purchase a handgun in any other state but your "home state" You will need a FL drivers license or ID to purchase. Others will correct me if i'm wrong, but there is no such thing as dual residency for firearms purchases.

I agree, he will need to have a FL DL in order to purchase a pistol down there.

On the other note, I do hope to see FL pass open carry!!!!! Not that I would ever do it!!!
