Does anyone happen to have the same set of variables and if you do, what works for you?
AR-15 style platform
16 inch M4 profile barrel
1 in 9 twist
varget powder
55 grain V-max bullets
Hodgdon recommends 25.5 to 27.5 grains. My Remington 700 like 26.4 grains. What does your AR like?
I use 23.5gn of varget for 75gn bullet in a 24" 1:8 twist. That gets me sub-moa at 100yds and moa at 200yds. Start with a base load and work up from there. Make 10rds of each load and see how they shoot. Every gun is a little different. What works in mikes gun might be different than yours.
Right now I just want a ballpark load. Ill work up something over the summer when supplies are more readily available. I havent even shot the gun yet so more than anything I wanted to see if my current loads would be even close to accurate. It looks like they should be pretty good according to mikes data. Thanks
24.5 gr. Varget with 68 gr. Hornady or 69 gr. Sierra Match, 2.25" OAL. I don't know how those'll fly with a 1:9 twist though.
Always check internet recommendations agains a manual.....just in case we made a mistake.
