(CNN) -- At least one gunman attacked worshippers at a Sikh temple in the Milwaukee suburb of Oak Creek, Wisconsin, on Sunday, leaving at least one dead and two wounded while police converged on the site.

Some people are believed to be trapped inside the Sikh Temple of Wisconsin, and at least one gunman may still be inside, Alderman Dan Jakubczyk told CNN.

"As far as I know, it is still an active situation," Jakubczyk said.

Carolyn Bellin, a spokeswoman for Milwaukee's Froedtert Hospital, said one of two men brought there from the incident was in surgery early Sunday morning, while the other was in the surgical intensive care unit.

There was no immediate comment from police in Oak Creek, on the south side of Milwaukee. But at least one body was visible lying in the parking lot, and Kathy Moran, a nursing supervisor at Columbia St. Mary's hospital in Milwaukee, told CNN that early reports suggested between eight to 20 people had been wounded.

Gurcharan Grewal, president of the Sikh Religious Society of Wisconsin, told CNN that he has heard from multiple people that there were wounded people still inside the temple and that there may have been multiple perpetrators. Police have sealed off the entire area, he said.

Grewal spoke to CNN from another Sikh temple about 20 miles away, where he said police were on the scene was well.
"We are really vigilant. We are really concerned," he said.

The temple has a congregation of 250 to 400, according to its website.

"I just want to say this temple was built a number of years ago and there have never been any problems with this temple," Jakubczyk said. "They've been a plus to this city and to my district."

Fox now reporting 7 dead, including at least one murdering puke.

I was watching CNN about an hour ago and I couldn't believe what I heard. They reported that there were people still inside hiding and texting friends and family to let them know where they are, but asking that their texts not be replied so as not to give away their locations. HELLO!! MCFLY!! You just announced it on a world-wide network!! All the possible assailants need is access to CNN and they know that there are still people inside the building they haven't found yet.

Then, not to be out done in the stupid department Fox started reporting the same thing.

Not surprising!
I dint think they mean for the public to know where they are but for the gunman not to find them when their phone beeps...?

Right. Some people can't or don't know how to mute their phone. But if assailants are holding hostages, and there's a TV inside the building tuned to CNN, the pukes now know that there are people inside they didn't know about. That's why they didn't want live video, or any video from helicopters, of tactical units or movements outside the building.

The people hiding want their predicament conveyed to LE. They don't expect it to be broadcast contemporaneously on live TV.
Just lovely...
Man, I remember a number of killings in Vancouver at a Sikh temple. The orthodox Sikhs were upset that there were tables and chairs in the temple where that met to eat after prayers... So they all went at each other with machetes and knives... Yes, all over tables... Same thing happened in Toronto more recently. You can't fix crazy!

.............................better stock up on ammo and mags.

The handwriting is on the wall .
No matter what ever they think they can do to stop these type of things these incidents will never stop. If they take away all guns then the crazys would use there cars to run over groups of people. If they took away the cars they would just find another way.
But guns are evil. Driving a propane truck into a mall is much less evil....
nice shooting by the responding cop. hopefully he recovers as well. Freaking insane people. Seriously Churches are places where u need concealed carry all the time. Crazy evil bastards abound.
Sikhs got killed after 9/11 for being too muslim

No there is irony since they are known as the Indian defenders against Islam.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Sikh

Protecting the religious and political rights of all people and preventing discrimination is an integral part of the Sikh faith. The 5th Guru Arjan Dev was martyred by the Mughal ruler Jahangir on 16 May 1606 for refusing to convert to Islam. The martyrdom of Sri Guru Teg Bahadur Ji 9th Guru to protect Hindus from religious persecution, in Delhi, on 11 November 1675 AD, is another example of upholding minority religious freedom; he gave his life to protect the right of Kashmiri Hindus to practise their own religion when they were being forced to convert to Islam by Aurangzeb, the Mughal emperor at the time.
Preliminary reports, but 911 callers stated shooter was carrying 2 handguns. No mention of those evil "assalt weapons".
Though the moron on Foxnews folled that report by saying "yes, they were likely automatic handguns because he shot so many people." So stupid!

Maybe they think the handguns have transmissions?

If they were glocks... They are assault weapons in the sheeps eyes
Guns are bad. They should have talked him out of shooting more people instead of shooting him.

Some Muslims got killed for being "too Muslim". Neither one is more wrong than the other.
Sad.
Prayers to family of victims.
