Hi All,

Quick question- Are Saiga 12's legal in NY with a 5 round clip and no other modifications? I was reading through threads and understand that once you put a 10 round mag you need to swap parts for it to become 922r compliant. I also understand that things like folding stocks and pistol grips aren't allowed but is a "standard" config ok?

I'm looking at this on gunbroker which is why I ask

Thanks for the help.

Tom

That's illegal and very bad. You'll get in trouble, don't bid on it. I would think about getting something else if I were you...
BTW, that's not me bidding on it - its some other person using nybocce!

That's the stock sporterized version that gets imported with a 5 round magazine. Perfectly NY Compliant.

Once you put a 10 round aftermarket magazine like an SGM tactical you do have to make it 922r compliant (you can do so by changing to a US forend, put in an MD gas plug, and the mag counts as 3 compliant parts).

Here are some good checklists to help with the 922r compliance if you decide to use aftermarket parts on it (remember no pistol grip in NY per our AWB).

Please note, the information in the thread is from BEFORE the unSAFE act. Now a detachable magazine on a semi-auto shotgun is considered 1 evil feature therefore making a saiga 12 illegal to purchase in NY in any configuration.. Unless of course your permanently attach the magazine and have no other evil features. Transfer of existing saiga 12's is illegal and existing ones must be registered.. According to the "law" of course.
