Horrifying!
Glad it was a clean shoot.
Scary!

If that was here in NYS...she would either be dead, or behind bars.
Sad but true!

At least the police showed up in time to talk about it.

They always do. (Note, that statement isn't cop bashing. Just the way it is).

Very true. The police are there to arrest someone and secure the crime scene. They are second responders. You are the first responder in such a situation and that is why you always need to be prepared to deal with a threat.

Correct. The point being, the police prevent crime. They cannot prevent crimes. Their role is almost entirely reactionary, after the fact. They can reduce the overall level of criminal activity but they cannot be expected to prevent a specific crime that has not yet occurred or one that is in progress. Personal security is the responsibility of the individual. This is why we have locks on our doors, we install burglar alarms, keep dogs that bark and keep arms.
This is exactly the reason I have guns. I recently had a neighbor who was being beaten bye her husband. My mother called the police while I ran across the street to help her(without a gun). The police took over 5 min to respond and I live in a small town with it's own police force. My neighbor coincidentally came over christmas eve to give me and my mother a gift and thank us. She said to me "if it were not for you I would be dead right now". The husband would not have stopped had I not went over there. Not saying the police don't do there job but they can only get from point a to b so quickly. Should it be my home or loved ones I want to feel secure in knowing I can protect them. Look at these women like the one in the video who report several incidents and yet the stalker still walks free. If that happened to my girl or mother or my house was being robbed I could protect them.
