I'm reading more and more about home invasions.
Glad this one turned out better than it could have.

Home Invader Shot With Own Sawed-Off Shotgun
Flint Township Police Investigating Incident

UPDATED: 4:33 pm EDT June 3, 2010

FLINT TOWNSHIP, Mich. -- Flint Township police are investigating after a 70-year-old man got a hold of a sawed off shot-gun while a 35-year-old man burglarized a bedroom.

Police were called to the Brookstone apartment complex on Drummond Drive around 5 a.m. Wednesday. Investigators said the younger man, a Flint resident, had forcibly entered the apartment.

Both residents of the home, the 70-year-old man and a 63-year-old woman, were asleep at the time.

Police said the younger man gained entry via the apartment's balcony and entered through a screen door.

Authorities said the burglar entered the woman's bedroom, roused her at gunpoint and began to assault her.

Her screams awakened the man, who was sleeping on a couch in the living room. Police said he entered the room and saw the burglar set down his shotgun while rummaging through the bedroom.

The man then grabbed the gun and shot the burglar. Investigators said the burglar then grabbed the gun from the man and fled the apartment. Officers said they later discovered him at a nearby apartment building.

The suspect was taken into custody and is being treated at a Flint Township hospital while under police guard.

Authorities said charges are pending against the 35-year-old suspect.

Turn about is fair play. Never rub another man's rhubarb!
thats awesome...hope no charges against the 70 yo...how did he grab the gun back?
Adrenaline I guess, from my understanding sawed off's dont have a lot of real killing power.
This just proves that the Liberals are right.  We don't need to posses a legal gun in our home.  The perps will provide them for us when they break in...
The following is a very disturbing 911 call. If you're going to be upset and come back all cranky, then just don't listen to it.
It's pretty clear that the only thing that saved this womans life was the firearm she was ready with.
Home invasion robberies are way up and way under reported.
It's my understanding they fall in to the "robbery" stats on the police blotters.

This should be a TV commercial.   Thank god she was prepared.

Good point.... how come firearm companies dont do stuff like that? I honestly think that many people who say they support gun control are simply ill informed on the ability and legal obligation for the police to protect us, and even more ill informed on the current gun control laws. I think if gun makers used a little educational advertising it would boost sales and common sense.

I had a discussion with my very liberal grandmother and cousin about gun laws, they both said it was way too easy to get handguns... When I informed them that it was going to take me 6 months to get a permit to buy, then another 6 months to get a limited business carry permit they were speechless. Apparently they had both heard "buying a handgun takes 10 minutes and there is no backround check."

They both agree that a year for a small business owner to be able to protect themselves is way to much... Turns out they arent so much in favor of more gun control as they are simply misinformed.
