Bullet Hits White House Window

WASHINGTON -- The Secret Service says a bullet hit an exterior window of the White House and was stopped by ballistic glass.

An additional round of ammunition was also found on the exterior of the White House. The bullets were found Tuesday.

The discovery follows reports of gunfire near the White House on Friday. Witnesses heard shots and saw two speeding vehicles in the area. An AK-47 rifle was also recovered.

The Secret Service says it has not conclusively connected Friday's incident with the bullets found on the White House grounds. U.S. Park Police have an arrest warrant out for Oscar Ortega-Hernandez, who is believed to be connected to the earlier incident.

The president and Mrs. Obama were in California at the time.

Glad he is Ok and no one was hurt. This just doesn't go well for any law abiding gun owner.

Wouldn't it be a pisser if it was a Fast and Furious gun.
smells like a setup... they seen  the cars, found the weapon... made no arrests... seems like someones trying to attack legal gun owners.
Thus incident brought to you by the brady campaign... :(

Smells fishy
Its their way of stacking the deck on their side
He should move. That neighborhood is getting really bad
I hear DC is a tough neighborhood. And since it is next to impossible to get a gun permit he has no way of defending himself.

:hide
With all the cameras they have around DC and the White House in particular, you've got to be an imbecile thinking you will get away. This ain't no ring and run. Thanksfully nobody was hurt and the President is safe. It would be ironic if it turned to be a Fast and Furious weapon.
Ditto on the setup! Too convenient, and too quickly solved, especially with the vote Congress.
And what timing too!
Glad no one was hurt.  Still can't believe someone hit something with an AK...
Odds are this isent even related to the White House. Washington DC has an extremely high violent crime rate, it ranks up there with New Orleans, LA Gary, IN and San Juan, PR.
An AK, of course.

To be fair it did have a scope adjusted to minute of barn.
Actually, it sounds legit to me.  I'd think a setup would have something like ".50 bmg heat seeking bullets" or "hi capacity cop killing clips" in it.
From NY Times -
"The Secret Service statement said that the sounds of gunfire on Friday were heard in the area around the Ellipse, a grassy area where the national Christmas tree is displayed each year just south of the White House; it is across Constitution Avenue from the more distant Washington Monument.

That would seem to place the firing spot 700 to 800 yards from the White House.

While an AK-47 can send a bullet about that far, the range at which it is considered effective is far less."

So they are saying that the AK is Minute of large building accurate from 700 - 800 yards.
