Hey guy's. Is a bore guide necessary to use? To clean the bore, I have the plastic coated steel wire that you can screw any tool at the tips. would it be wise to invest in one?
There are two ways to damage the chamber and the bore without a bore guide.
1. The rod itself, without a bore guide, will scrape against the inside of the chamber and the entire bore going up to the crown.
2. The metal brushes will do the same thing. Even if brass rubbing against steel, you don't wnat to do that.
If you are going to purchase a bore guide, get one that is specific for your rifle (front of guide will snuggle up perfectly against the open side of the chamber).
These are the best i've ever used. This system has an insert that fits your specific rod ( Dewey,Tipton etc...) Email Mike let him know your rifle type along with caliber and the rod your gonna use.
