Best Selections/Inventory of Optics in metro area?

Hey...was wondering....who has an really good selection of glass out there, especially some of the mid to high-end stuff?  Been to a couple of places today and they were severely lacking in stuff like Trijicon, Leupold, NF, etc, etc.  I can't be wasting gas like this....tell me some good places in the NY-Metro area.   I don't really want to order on line, because you can't sample the optic.  Just because someone likes it, doesn't mean my eyes will.  That's why I'm asking.  Thanks!

I would say some of our site sponsors are where I would start (SSS, Hunter), or you could go to a LIF meetup, sample what I would imagine is a wide variety of member's optics, and buy online for a cost savings.
LIF meetup for sure - good thinking Bird.
But if you want a lot of hands on, B&H photo in the city has a pretty good inventory.
Although the local guys can order what you want and I would rather support our local guys, I understand the need to fondle them first.
I dont know if any of the local shops have NF in Stock. As for the other stuff SSS has an assortment of Acogs. i know Campsite is a luepy dealer along with hunter
Call Campsite(631-271-4969), ask to speak with either Shawn, Doug or Jonathan.

Here's their web links:

Eotech, NF, Leupold, Zeiss, Swarovski, Aimpoint / ACOG, pretty sure they should have just about anything you need in terms of high end optics in stock.

Good luck and enjoy.

Buono - If you're looking high end, you might want to check this, if you haven't already.
For some of the reviews, you need to shell out a subscription - sigh.

Since you mentioned them....those were the ones I went to visit today. SSS is my go to shop but they really don't have that great a selction of scopes for me (not an ACOG fan). That's not a knock on them...I can understand why as it's expensive inventory that probably sits a while. That's why I had to make a post to see where else to go.

Thanks...I'll be visiting them tomorrow. B&H....I totally forgot about..thanks for mentioning. I might have to take a train to the city. I'm specifically looking at Trijicon AccuPoints and the Leupold Mark 4s. If things work, I might be able to reach into my pockets a little deeper for an NF...but tbh, that might be overkill for me...as nice as those are.
i drove to the cabelas in Pennsylvania to buy my scope, they had a huge selection. most of the local guys have some scopes, but i really i wanted to look at the biggest selection possible so i took the drive up there, it was worth it.
I went to a bunch of places trying to get a very specific Leupold Mark IV.
No one had it in stock.
I ended up getting it special ordered by LISC, they had the best price.
Cabelas has the largest selection next to Bass Pro and Gander Mountain. The local shops like T&T may have some tactical scope in stock.Mark at Hunter Sports carries a large selection of Nikon scopes.I know Mark matches the internet prices on any of his scopes.
As seems to be the catch phrase of the day, rents are too damn high around here for shops to stock items that don't move/sell pretty often.
It's been my experience that if you buy anything on the Island, you're going to get taken to the cleaners. Selection is poor at best, with most shops charging above and beyond retail for items. Shop around on the internet, selection is limitless. Most websites won't charge you sales tax, shipping is reasonable and in most cases free. Opticsplanet.com or SWFA.com are two places I use. They both offer super fast shipping and their customer service is top notch. Natchez.com also has good deals on quality glass and other stuff.

Just recently my brother and I went "window shopping" at 4 gun stores here in Suffolk. On average, the stores were charging from $50 to upwards of $150 for the exact same items I could find online. And that's without the sales tax they're going to tack on at the register. In these economic times that's a big nut to swallow. Just one man's opinion.

Good luck.
