I believe that statement was about 2 years ago (May of 2013)

If Carson beats Hillary, or any other Dem, and is President he'll be in the same spot on that issue as Reagan, Bush I and other GOP stalwarts. If Hillary wins, then what? So the issue is strictly, who is FIRST going to win over the Dem.? We can educate him on the 2A later.

"Rural areas are very different than big, teeming urban areas," --Jeb Bush speaking on gun control with reporters, after Charleston, SC incident 2015.

"I generally oppose gun control, but I support the ban on assault weapons and I support a slightly longer waiting period to purchase a gun."

-- Donald Trump "The America We Deserve" pg 102

Carson made the statement back in March of 2013, not "just last week". He retracted the statement later and has made very pro 2A comments since.

Just like Trump, who also made anti 2A statementsa in tbe past, voters need to decide whether to trust him on gun rights, but it is disgraceful for Trump supporters to lie about when Carson made the comment.

He said, "I would never advocate anything to interfere with Second Amendment rights; however, We have to keep in mind that law-abiding American citizens absolutely should have gun rights." Extremely pro-2nd Amendment; never let anyone tamper with itThe baton of freedom is in our hands. We must make absolutely sure that we will never let the right to keep & bear arms be removed from those who follow us in this nation. Let me make it absolutely clear that I am extremely pro-Second Amendment. I will never let anyone tamper with that right. The real reason that they put the 2nd Amendment there is recognizing that there could come a time when our government itself could go off the rail, and could try to dominate the people, and the people would need a mechanism of defense for themselves.I used to think guns needed to be registered, but if you register them they just come and find you and take your guns.I truly believe in Second Amendment rights. I would never advocate anything to interfere with Second Amendment rights; however, I do think we have to be intelligent. We need to engage in a discussion about, "Is there something we can do?" Semi-automatic weapons ok in countryside, but not citiesAppearing on Glenn Beck's radio show this past week, Carson took a vastly different stance from most conservatives on the issue of gun control, claiming you shouldn't be able to own semi-automatic weapons in large cities.

Asked by Beck for his thoughts on the Second Amendment, Carson gave the popular pro-gun argument: "There's a reason for the Second Amendment; people do have the right to have weapons."

But when asked whether people should be allowed to own "semi-automatic weapons," the doctor replied: "It depends on where you live. I think if you live in the midst of a lot of people, and I'm afraid that that semi-automatic weapon is going to fall into the hands of a crazy person, I would rather you not have it," Carson elaborated. However, if you live "out in the country somewhere by yourself" and want to own a semi-automatic weapon, he added, "I've no problem with that."

Here I go thinking I'm gonna vote Republican , and find out the Republican candidates are about on par with Obama as far as 2A.

Really, America, WTF.

Hillary Clinton and Donald Trump are like the the Jeopardy answer that goes to the question "Who would be the worst Presidential candidates who have not already held office, Alex?".

If you're supporting anyone but Trump or Cruz you're wasting your time. Cruz is stronger on guns, but Trump is stronger on immigration and unless we address the latter we have no hope of preserving our rights to the former. Don't believe me? Find me a Hispanic or Asian country with a RTKBA. Hell, find me one that isn't outright socialist.

I like Cruz and Walker in that order. Personally I don't like Trump and never will. I believe he's a high profile plant by the Clinton's to divide and conquer the Republican party, his ties to them run too deep for me to think otherwise. I also think Dr. Carson will be Jimmy Carter weak when it comes to anything that endangers life including using the military. Preserve life, it's just the way a doctor is trained to think. The fact that any of them will selectively apply Constitutional rights based on geographical region is absurd. Once this crap show is finally over I will still vote Republican even if I don't like the candidate like I did with McCain, because abstaining IS a vote for the democrat and that won't do this country any good. Try to imagine what would be left of this country by 2020 if Hillary, Biden or Sanders were elected....

He's too timid to be an effective leader. Where does Rubio stand on 2A?
Last night he made the point, "More gun laws won't work because criminals don't follow the law!" I saw him say it. I believe he's very 2A friendly as is Cruz.

Actions (or inactions on Obama's part) speak louder than words. The problem is you have to elect it before you see what they are really made of. Ineed to hear a lot more from these people to get a warm fuzzy about their future actions as President.

Listen, we'd all love Wayne Lapierre for President, but he's not going to beat Hillary.

You guys can root for you dream ultra conservative, hard core 2A guy. I'll root for whoever will be the most probable to beat the socialists. Hopefully he's a hard core conservative. But if the match up favors a Carson or a Carly, despite their lack of 2A purity, gotta go with whoever is most sure to drive a stake through the heart of these Democrat demons.

I get what you are saying. But, I think we shouldn't go overboard looking for "electibility". Unless he/she has some glaring flaw that makes him/her totally unelectible, I say just nominate the best person for the job and let the chips fall where they may.

Romney and McCain were supposed to be the "electible" ones.
